The Beginning of a Beautiful Friendship

KHLOÉ KARDASHIAN: Sorry. But I’m so happy to be here. How fun is this? No, I hate podcasts, but I’m so happy to be here.

JEN ATKIN: How fun is this? We get to be together.

KHLOÉ KARDASHIAN: Well, I’m so happy to have you on Khloé in Wonderland.

JEN ATKIN: Khloé, this is what it takes to see you.

KHLOÉ KARDASHIAN: I know. Or drunken behavior on Saturday night.

JEN ATKIN: Should we just make this episode about all the things that happened at your mom’s birthday party?

KHLOÉ KARDASHIAN: We really should. So just for context, I know this is going to air in January, but we are still drunk. Our mom’s birthday was two days ago. She’ll adopt you. So we’re both older and we’re still paying the price.

JEN ATKIN: I’m going to tell you. It was Saturday night. We’re shooting this on Monday. I slept 10 hours yesterday. I had to get an IV drip. It was a night of all nights. But her Gatsby party was her 60th. Do you remember that party? Do you remember you at that party? Do you remember you on stage?

KHLOÉ KARDASHIAN: I was up at that party. I still love the video that’s online where me and Kourtney are fighting over the cane in the background of who was singing—Charlie Wilson and Kanye—and we’re fighting in the background.

JEN ATKIN: Well, you just went on stage and you were trying to take the mic from Charlie Wilson. It was a time.

KHLOÉ KARDASHIAN: Well, I was very, very drunk. And that’s because I was in the hospital with Lamar for months. And it was my first time.

JEN ATKIN: It was staph infection time.

KHLOÉ KARDASHIAN: Yeah, that was—thank you. Wow, a lot of gems you’re dropping.

JEN ATKIN: Yeah, no, it’s been a life.

How It All Started

KHLOÉ KARDASHIAN: Well, point is, Jen Atkin, I’ve known you for decades at this point. I mean, years and years. And so thank you for gracing us with your presence on the pod.

JEN ATKIN: So the first time I worked with you was November 1st.

KHLOÉ KARDASHIAN: No, it wasn’t. November 1st? How did you find that?

JEN ATKIN: I found that picture last night because I was just reminiscing and I was trying to remember all the time.

KHLOÉ KARDASHIAN: Did you remember the first time I met you? You were just telling me how bad your memory is. It was on an airplane, and you were going to Miami to do Kim’s hair for a Cosmo shoot. And I was on the plane traveling, too.

JEN ATKIN: And you had your glam squad with you, right?

KHLOÉ KARDASHIAN: I don’t remember.

JEN ATKIN: I remember being in business class and being excited about it, but I remember seeing you, and I just need everybody to understand you weren’t that famous then. You were pseudo famous.

KHLOÉ KARDASHIAN: Okay.

JEN ATKIN: I knew you when you were broke.

KHLOÉ KARDASHIAN: Yeah, you did.

JEN ATKIN: But I met you on that People magazine shoot that I forgot. When you guys were the single ladies.

KHLOÉ KARDASHIAN: Oh, my God. I don’t remember. Oh, you did Kourtney. I don’t remember that, but I remember the single lady shooting and the Cosmo shoot.

JEN ATKIN: Okay, can I finish telling the story? So the Cosmo shoot, I was there to do Kim, who I didn’t know. And I felt like—I don’t even know what got me there. I was maybe doing Sofia Vergara at the time, and so my agent was like, “There’s this Cosmo shoot. You have to go in and out.” And then we met, and I just loved you, and I really didn’t even know you, but I was like, “This bitch is funny.”

KHLOÉ KARDASHIAN: No, you and I together, and we connected. Yeah, we were.

JEN ATKIN: And then you wrote me the sweetest note. Do you remember that?

KHLOÉ KARDASHIAN: No, I haven’t. No, you don’t.

JEN ATKIN: But you wrote me the sweetest note, and you were like, “I’m doing this thing called X Factor. I’m going to be—my first hosting job. And I would be so honored.” You said something very sweet. You really were putting it on.

KHLOÉ KARDASHIAN: I used to be so sweet. And then my life got ruined.

JEN ATKIN: Yeah, it did.

From Utah to LA: Jen’s Journey

KHLOÉ KARDASHIAN: Well, speaking of your life getting ruined. No, I do—I know you’ve told your story, but I do think it’s interesting to people because you’re from Utah or you’re from Hawaii, but then you are from Utah. Really? How did a Mormon girl from Utah end up in California doing the job that you do?

JEN ATKIN: Okay, so I grew up very religious, but my parents were kind of cool. We’d watch SNL and South Park.

KHLOÉ KARDASHIAN: You were allowed to have sex before marriage?

JEN ATKIN: Are you kidding me? No. I didn’t really drink until I was much older. It’s crazy.
