In this Tucker Carlson Show interview, Rebecca Bextel, the Constitution Party candidate for governor of Wyoming, explains why the lifelong Republican is running against GOP nominee Eric Barlow. She discusses property taxes, the Low-Income Housing Tax Credit program, the end of the Jackson Hole Rodeo, data centers, Flock cameras, and why she believes the Wyoming Republican Party no longer represents its voters. Why a Lifelong Republican Is Running Against the Republican
TUCKER CARLSON: (00:00:04 – 00:00:05) Becca, thank you for doing this.
REBECCA BEXTEL: (00:00:05 – 00:00:06) Thank you.
TUCKER CARLSON: (00:00:06 – 00:00:55) So I’m interested in talking to you. I would— don’t ever do segments like this, but because I’ve seen this thing happen across the country, but particularly in the West, where you have states that are overwhelmingly Republican that wind up becoming nothing at all like what Republican voters would like their state to become. And then over time, it just— you wind up Colorado, the state that when I was a kid was one of the most conservative states in the nation. And now it’s unrecognizable and not a better place.
Wyoming is the smallest state in the country. It’s the most Republican state in the country. It somehow had Liz Cheney. She got bounced out famously. But my sense is that the same thing is happening to Wyoming of all places. You’re running for governor. You’re a lifelong Republican, but you’re not running as a Republican. You’re running against the Republican. Why are you doing that?
REBECCA BEXTEL: (00:00:55 – 00:01:07) So in 2020, Charlie Kirk was in Gillette, Wyoming, and he said very famously now that in 6 years Wyoming will be blue because the Democrats will have infiltrated the Republican Party.
TUCKER CARLSON: (00:01:07 – 00:01:08) He said that?
REBECCA BEXTEL: (00:01:08 – 00:01:13) He actually said that. Yeah, you can see it. I’ll show you the tape. Yeah, that really happened. I can show it. Do you want to show it to you right now?
TUCKER CARLSON: (00:01:13 – 00:01:15) That is— no, but I’m going to look it up. That’s prophetic.
REBECCA BEXTEL: (00:01:15 – 00:02:00) I got it on my phone. And so what happens is the Democrats, they really have no say in Wyoming politics. So they all switch over to the Republican Party. We always have conservatives that split the election for the primary, and then we end up with the Democrat candidate. And that’s exactly what’s happening right now.
Our candidate for the Republican Party won’t even sign the platform pledge to say that they’ll stick with the party 80% of the time. This guy is so radical, he voted— he actually testified in front of Congress one time and said we needed to remove our dependence on fossil fuels in favor of a renewable energy model. So can you imagine a guy like that being in charge of Wyoming, where our bread and butter is the mineral industry? And the energy sector.
TUCKER CARLSON: (00:02:00 – 00:02:09) Wait. Yeah. Wyoming. It’s got one of the biggest coal deposits in the world. Oil and gas. And he’s from Wyoming. What’s his name?
REBECCA BEXTEL: (00:02:09 – 00:02:26) His name is Eric Barlow. And he likes to run around with a cowboy hat and talk about how he’s a rancher and a veterinarian. And I think those things are true. He— on the campaign trail, he talks about what he’s going to do for Wyoming, hoping that we don’t know what he’s done. And so I’m running against his 14-year voting record.
TUCKER CARLSON: (00:02:27 – 00:02:28) So he served in the state legislature.
REBECCA BEXTEL: (00:02:28 – 00:02:30) Yes. And so we know exactly what we’re going to get.
TUCKER CARLSON: (00:02:30 – 00:02:34) So the Wyoming Republican is against
REBECCA BEXTEL: (00:02:34 – 00:02:37) fossil fuels. That’s right. It’s crazy.
TUCKER CARLSON: (00:02:37 – 00:02:39) Okay. Okay.
REBECCA BEXTEL: (00:02:39 – 00:02:39) Yeah.
How Big Money Buys Wyoming Politics
TUCKER CARLSON: (00:02:39 – 00:02:47) So how— okay, how does this— do you have any idea how this happens? I don’t. So it’s kind of a trick question. I don’t know the answer, but maybe you do.
REBECCA BEXTEL: (00:02:47 – 00:02:57) Well, the demo— he’s funded by the Democrats, the dark George Soros-funded money. I mean, that has trickled its way into Wyoming. We’re a very cheap state to buy politically.
TUCKER CARLSON: (00:02:57 – 00:02:58) Yes.
REBECCA BEXTEL: (00:02:58 – 00:03:09) So if you look at someone like Vivek Ramaswamy running $100 million governor run. I’ll be lucky if I raise a million bucks, but I— that’s what I’m taking on.
TUCKER CARLSON: (00:03:09 – 00:03:09) Total?
REBECCA BEXTEL: (00:03:10 – 00:03:15) Yes. I’m going to be your next governor with raising less than a million dollars.
TUCKER CARLSON: (00:03:15 – 00:03:34) So that means that someone could roll in. I mean, people are spending $100 million. I think Elon spent $100 just in Texas-ish, maybe more. So people are willing to spend a lot of money on races, but the governor’s race in Wyoming can be won for a million dollars. Why wouldn’t it be vulnerable to people coming in and just installing someone.
REBECCA BEXTEL: (00:03:34 – 00:04:06) Well, we constantly have governors that don’t reflect the will of the people, like you just said. Wyoming is absolutely overwhelmingly Republican. Our Republican platform will fit on one single sheet of paper. It’s just 23 planks: the right to life, liberty, God is our creator, the people in charge derive their power from the consent of the governed, things like that. Okay, very basic right to life.
So how do we end up with governors that don’t reflect the will of the people is the conservatives split the vote and then big money comes in and takes it away. Way. And that’s what I’m up against right now.
TUCKER CARLSON: (00:04:07 – 00:04:12) That is totally fascinating.
REBECCA BEXTEL: (00:04:12 – 00:04:12) You’re welcome.
TUCKER CARLSON: (00:04:12 – 00:04:37) Because you do sort of wonder, all these states— and a lot of them are about to lose, by the way— in Kansas, in Nebraska, the Dakotas, all these places have not simply Republican populations, but very conservative, socially conservative, culturally conservative populations. And they end up being governed by someone who’s in the pocket of developers, green energy billionaires, and just the worst human beings on the planet.
Property Tax and the Unrealized Gain
REBECCA BEXTEL: (00:04:38 – 00:04:48) They are. And one of the things that I want to get done when I’m governor is to get rid of property tax. We have people all around the state struggling to pay their property tax.
TUCKER CARLSON: (00:04:48 – 00:04:48) Yes,
REBECCA BEXTEL: (00:04:49 – 00:04:51) it’s an unrealized gain. Well, my opponent is very—
TUCKER CARLSON: (00:04:51 – 00:04:52) can you explain what that means?
REBECCA BEXTEL: (00:04:53 – 00:05:01) So if you bought a stock for a dollar and it’s now worth $100, you don’t have to pay taxes on the worth of $100. But I’ll give you an example.
TUCKER CARLSON: (00:05:01 – 00:05:02) Until you sell it.
REBECCA BEXTEL: (00:05:02 – 00:05:05) Until you sell it, correct. It’s until you realize the gain.
TUCKER CARLSON: (00:05:05 – 00:05:05) Right.
REBECCA BEXTEL: (00:05:05 – 00:05:08) And so, for example, because how
TUCKER CARLSON: (00:05:08 – 00:05:11) would you pay it? You don’t— maybe don’t have the cash to pay it. Right.
REBECCA BEXTEL: (00:05:11 – 00:05:40) Right. In Jackson, there’s a woman. She’s 94 years old. She’s been working since she’s 6. She bought her house for $40,000 in 1960. It happens to be sitting on a double lot in Jackson now, and it’s falling down all around her, but it’s worth $4.5 million.
So her Social Security income is $12,704 a year. And her property tax is $19,000. And so she— that she’s working, she had to go get a job. She answers the phones at an acupuncture place
TUCKER CARLSON: (00:05:40 – 00:05:41) at 94.
REBECCA BEXTEL: (00:05:41 – 00:05:42) At 94 years old, she’s still working.
TUCKER CARLSON: (00:05:43 – 00:05:58) And so the way property tax works is you don’t have to sell the house to pay the tax. So they just— someone comes by your house and says, “Oh, this house is worth a lot more than you paid for it, therefore you have to pay the tax on the difference.” Who thought up that system?
REBECCA BEXTEL: (00:05:59 – 00:06:45) I’m— it’s a corrupt system. You’re basically renting your house. But the beauty of property tax, Tucker, is if let’s say the town of Jackson got $1 million from the state to put in a new water tank or something, that money is earmarked. The thing about property tax is it’s a free-for-all for the politicians. They get to spend it on whatever they want to spend.
So in the town of Rock Springs, property tax goes to buy a golf club membership for the mayor. In Teton County, come on. No, I’m serious. In Teton County, we have the First, Last, and Deposit program where we’re literally paying the rent for illegal aliens. You don’t have to be here legally to qualify for the program.
We’re paying for someone to stock tampons in all the men’s restrooms in the town of Jackson with our property tax. So those kinds of things don’t work for me.
TUCKER CARLSON: (00:06:45 – 00:06:46) You have tampons in the men’s room?
REBECCA BEXTEL: (00:06:46 – 00:06:47) That’s right, we do.
TUCKER CARLSON: (00:06:49 – 00:06:52) But no one has to restock them, I assume, because nobody uses them.
REBECCA BEXTEL: (00:06:52 – 00:06:55) Well, I mean,
TUCKER CARLSON: (00:06:55 – 00:06:55) what
REBECCA BEXTEL: (00:06:56 – 00:07:01) you would think— that’s a good point. There are some confused individuals in Teton County.
Teton County and Eric Barlow’s Nomination
TUCKER CARLSON: (00:07:02 – 00:07:04) Yeah. So how many counties in Wyoming?
REBECCA BEXTEL: (00:07:04 – 00:07:05) 23.
TUCKER CARLSON: (00:07:05 – 00:07:13) 23 counties. And Jackson is the— Teton County is the 22nd, and it’s the one that doesn’t look like any other counties and doesn’t vote like any of the other counties.
REBECCA BEXTEL: (00:07:13 – 00:07:50) But guess who— guess what we did do in Teton County? We elected my opponent. So we have a foaming at the mouth, liberal Democrat named Liz Storer in Teton County, as radical as you can imagine. Now, she’s been married twice, but she said the best night of her life was the night that Eric Barlow won the Republican nomination because she had spent years getting rid of the right.
So the best night of her life is when my opponent won the Republican nomination. He’s not a Republican. And so I’m running to basically save us from turning into the state of Colorado. If I lose this election, we will be Colorado in 4 years.
TUCKER CARLSON: (00:07:51 – 00:07:57) It’s funny, though. I bet you a lot of Republican voters in Wyoming, which to restate is the most Republican of the 50 states.
REBECCA BEXTEL: (00:07:57 – 00:07:58) The people living there.
TUCKER CARLSON: (00:07:58 – 00:08:13) Yeah, yeah, exactly. Not the people having lunch at the Four Seasons in Jackson during ski season, but the people who live in Wyoming, most of which looks nothing like Teton County, as you know. And they’re genuinely conservative. They just vote for the Republican because that’s who you vote for.
REBECCA BEXTEL: (00:08:14 – 00:08:14) They,
TUCKER CARLSON: (00:08:14 – 00:08:15) they don’t know.
Putting the Person Above the Party
REBECCA BEXTEL: (00:08:15 – 00:08:33) That’s what I’m up against, is begging people, please don’t vote for the R. The Republican Party has imploded. It’s not just imploded nationally, it’s imploded in Wyoming. We don’t have any leadership. People would prefer the values of the Republican Party, but there’s no litmus test, Tucker, to just put an R by your name.
TUCKER CARLSON: (00:08:33 – 00:08:34) Yes,
REBECCA BEXTEL: (00:08:34 – 00:09:29) we have tons of people like right in Teton County, a guy will run as a Democrat for county commissioner, lose, run again as a Democrat, lose, then go do something different, put an R by his name, lose, and then join the board of the Teton County Republican Party. It doesn’t make any sense.
And so we have to start looking at— we need to put the person above the party. And that’s what I’m asking everyone to do in Wyoming. Please vote for me. I’m there to represent the people. I share your values. I believe in all 23 planks of the Republican platform. I’d sign that pledge right now.
Now, I’m running as a Constitution Party candidate, and those 3 planks are life, liberty, and private property rights. I agree with that too. But we formerly had 2 choices, Democrat or Republican. And one-third of the Republicans are Democrat. So once we split the vote with the 2 conservatives running, then the Democrats select our candidate, and then they start screaming “party unity.”
TUCKER CARLSON: (00:09:30 – 00:11:34) It’s happened in Utah. It’s exactly what happened in Utah. I don’t see this happening to Democrats. You never see a Democrat elected governor and then on inauguration day he’s like, “Surprise, I’m right-wing!”
REBECCA BEXTEL: (00:11:35 – 00:11:37) I know, it’s unbelievable.
TUCKER CARLSON: (00:11:37 – 00:11:43) It is unbelievable when you let Maura Healey— it’s like she’s what you thought she was. She hates you just like you thought she did.
REBECCA BEXTEL: (00:11:44 – 00:12:18) Well, the Republicans do tons of things that don’t make any sense. I’ll give you an example. So like you said, overwhelmingly our state is Republican. So we have the County Commissioners Association, okay? And there’s only a few Democrats and overwhelmingly Republicans. Well, guess who’s the president of the County Commissioners Association? A Democrat from Teton County. They say she’s good at paperwork.
Okay, in what scenario would the Democrats, if there’s 60 Democrats and 4 Republicans. In what scenario would the Democrats put the leader as a Republican? It just— we keep shooting ourselves in the foot. It doesn’t make any sense because
TUCKER CARLSON: (00:12:18 – 00:12:19) they don’t mean it.
REBECCA BEXTEL: (00:12:19 – 00:12:20) That’s what I’ve decided.
TUCKER CARLSON: (00:12:20 – 00:12:25) And the Democrats mean it a lot more than you think they do. That’s right. They are not kidding at all. And there’s malice in their hearts.
REBECCA BEXTEL: (00:12:25 – 00:12:26) Yes.
TUCKER CARLSON: (00:12:26 – 00:12:41) But lost in all of this is the idea of democracy, which is very simply the people rule. They govern through their representatives, and they should kind of get some version of what they voted for, right? What they want. Shouldn’t they get what they want over time? Isn’t it their state, their country?
Saving the Teton County Fairgrounds and the Jackson Hole Rodeo
REBECCA BEXTEL: (00:12:42 – 00:13:00) Well, and that’s one of the reasons I got involved in politics, was trying to save our Teton County Fairgrounds. I realized that these developers and out-of-state people were literally trying to redesign our county, and I fought for 5 years to stop a development from taking over the fairgrounds. They ended up with 10% of it, but I’m never giving up on that.
TUCKER CARLSON: (00:13:00 – 00:13:08) So just for people who don’t know, so Teton County is in the northwestern part of the state of Wyoming.
REBECCA BEXTEL: (00:13:08 – 00:13:09) It’s the bottom of Yellowstone.
TUCKER CARLSON: (00:13:09 – 00:13:12) Bottom of Yellowstone, exactly right on the Idaho border.
REBECCA BEXTEL: (00:13:12 – 00:13:12) And
TUCKER CARLSON: (00:13:12 – 00:13:32) it’s the one place a lot of people who’ve never been to Wyoming may have been because of Yellowstone and the Jackson Hole ski resort and all that, and the cowboy culture of it and the square and all the cool stuff. Exactly. And if they visited Jackson, they may have been to the world-famous Jackson Rodeo, which still exists And it’s at those fairgrounds you’re referring to?
REBECCA BEXTEL: (00:13:32 – 00:13:42) Well, it still exists as of this year. They won’t actually renew the concessionaire contract. So this is the last year for the rodeo to have a contract.
TUCKER CARLSON: (00:13:42 – 00:13:42) What?
REBECCA BEXTEL: (00:13:42 – 00:13:55) They say that they’re going to renegotiate or look into it. What I’m telling you is there is no longer a Jackson Hole Rodeo as of now. The last rodeo was over Labor Day weekend.
TUCKER CARLSON: (00:13:55 – 00:13:57) Well, that’s kind of shocking.
REBECCA BEXTEL: (00:13:57 – 00:13:59) There’s a lot of people that would rather see that turn into housing.
The Affordable Housing Scam
TUCKER CARLSON: (00:14:00 – 00:14:01) Affordable housing for people.
REBECCA BEXTEL: (00:14:01 – 00:14:10) And it’s not really affordable, Tucker. If you actually read the contracts, as I have done, you can move into low-income housing with $475,000 in assets.
TUCKER CARLSON: (00:14:11 – 00:14:11) Really?
REBECCA BEXTEL: (00:14:11 – 00:14:13) You can have a house in another place. Yeah.
TUCKER CARLSON: (00:14:14 – 00:14:16) So you can move into affordable housing as your second home?
REBECCA BEXTEL: (00:14:17 – 00:14:18) Correct.
TUCKER CARLSON: (00:14:18 – 00:14:19) In Jackson?
REBECCA BEXTEL: (00:14:19 – 00:14:20) I’m not— I’m not making this up.
TUCKER CARLSON: (00:14:20 – 00:14:22) The most expensive real estate market outside Palm Beach?
REBECCA BEXTEL: (00:14:23 – 00:14:34) That’s right. Anybody outside, as long as your house is not within 99 miles of Jackson Hole In other words, anybody clear, clear past Smoot, Wyoming qualifies for affordable housing.
TUCKER CARLSON: (00:14:34 – 00:14:43) By the way, in case people watching aren’t familiar with geography, nothing is within 99 miles of Jackson Hole. There’s nothing there. There’s— I don’t think there’s a Walmart within that. Right. So it’s, okay,
REBECCA BEXTEL: (00:14:43 – 00:14:44) yeah.
TUCKER CARLSON: (00:14:44 – 00:14:50) So that’s crazy. So have people with second homes moved into affordable housing?
REBECCA BEXTEL: (00:14:50 – 00:15:20) Absolutely. Yes. I actually discovered— so we built this housing complex. It’s called the Flat Creek Apartments. And I documented— so we were in such a housing shortage. Such a housing collapse that the housing director testified to the State Loan and Investment Board that there were 700 people on a waitlist. Okay.
And once I got this public record request, I realized that just to fill up the building, it took 7 months and we were literally importing people from other states. A man collecting unemployment—
TUCKER CARLSON: (00:15:20 – 00:15:20) come on.
REBECCA BEXTEL: (00:15:21 – 00:15:35) No, a man collecting unemployment in Lake Tahoe, California moved in to low-income housing in Jackson Hole with $200,000 $390 in his bank account. He showed up at my office one day and said, “I keep hearing you talk about me, so I thought I’d introduce myself.” I said, “How did you—”
TUCKER CARLSON: (00:15:35 – 00:15:36) embarrassed?
REBECCA BEXTEL: (00:15:37 – 00:15:40) It was amazing how he was not embarrassed. I would be.
TUCKER CARLSON: (00:15:40 – 00:15:42) This is publicly subsidized housing.
REBECCA BEXTEL: (00:15:42 – 00:15:58) And we’ve spent— yeah, we— the developers put $100 into the project, fully taxpayer funded, free 99-year lease on the fairgrounds. The building itself is owned by Redstone Equity out of Ohio. They were not paying any property tax until I said, “I will see you in court.”
TUCKER CARLSON: (00:15:59 – 00:16:18) Okay, can we just— you got 5 minutes? I want to hear the details of this. So, okay, because I think a lot of people hear the term affordable housing and they’re like, there’s a homeless family on the sidewalk on Christmas Eve, weeping children, father just laid off at the local foundry, they have no home and they need a place to live, and that’s what affordable housing is here to solve, right?
REBECCA BEXTEL: (00:16:18 – 00:16:20) That’s not— that’s not what happens.
TUCKER CARLSON: (00:16:20 – 00:16:38) Okay, I’m getting the sense. So your affordable housing which was built on the rodeo grounds, the ancient Jackson Rodeo, which is the most wholesome thing that’s ever happened in Teton County. This affordable housing was built by who and who paid for it?
REBECCA BEXTEL: (00:16:38 – 00:17:42) Okay, so it’s a $24 million project. There was $4 million missing dollars. I had to pay $1,250 for a public record request, and I was able to find $1 million, which is what the developers paid themselves to build the project. So the developers pay themselves $1 million. The loans are literally guaranteed by the public. That’s what it says. The public has guaranteed the loans.
We— it’s fully taxpayer-funded project or is paid off in rent rolls. So we put all the millions in to get the project off the ground. That’s all public dollars. And then eventually the rent rolls start kicking in to pay off the building, depending on which building.
I’ve identified these buildings all over Wyoming and they’re everywhere in America. It’s called the Low-Income Housing Tax Credit Program. So housing, in our case, it’s the Wyoming Community Development Authority. They have total discretion in passing out millions of dollars to a certain recipient.
I also found where the federal program’s coordinator is now the federal program’s recipient. Okay, so the guy who used to be in charge of passing out the money, he now is the recipient of the program. And they—
TUCKER CARLSON: (00:17:42 – 00:17:44) which is more profitable for him, do you think?
REBECCA BEXTEL: (00:17:44 – 00:18:03) I don’t know what— I don’t know how he got in that job, that position. But they— these buildings are all over because it has a cute little sign that says “Teton County Housing Authority” outside, or “Casper Housing Authority.” No one until I came along ever questioned who actually owns the building. And I’ve showed where these buildings are all over Wyoming. They don’t pay any property tax.
TUCKER CARLSON: (00:18:04 – 00:18:05) And they’re owned by whom?
REBECCA BEXTEL: (00:18:05 – 00:18:21) Well, I identified 4 buildings in Natrona County, which is Casper, that 2 of them are owned by the Japanese— literally, ORIX, the Japanese equity firm, owns 2 of those buildings. And the other 2 are owned by East Coast equity firms paying no property tax. But now we’re told that—
TUCKER CARLSON: (00:18:21 – 00:18:27) how does a private equity firm on the East Coast wind up with public housing in Jackson paid for by taxpayers?
REBECCA BEXTEL: (00:18:28 – 00:18:35) That’s the scam. So I’m suing the town of Jackson right now over $3 million missing. If you can believe this,
TUCKER CARLSON: (00:18:36 – 00:18:42) but why would Jackson taxpayers pay for an asset owned by a private equity firm on the East Coast?
REBECCA BEXTEL: (00:18:42 – 00:18:47) Why would we give them a free 99-year lease on our fairgrounds? I don’t know. I don’t know the answer. It’s corruption.
TUCKER CARLSON: (00:18:48 – 00:18:50) Well, that’s just next level corruption.
REBECCA BEXTEL: (00:18:50 – 00:18:59) It is next level corruption. It’s— I think it’s bigger than the Minnesota scam, Tucker. These buildings are all over America. Just look at the Low-Income Housing Tax Credit program.
TUCKER CARLSON: (00:18:59 – 00:19:15) But I always assume, because I’m not that smart, that if a town, a city, a municipality, a state government even builds something, it owns it because it took taxpayer money to build it. Why would it give it to some private entity for free?
REBECCA BEXTEL: (00:19:16 – 00:20:04) It doesn’t make any sense. I’ve testified in front of our legislator about it. I’ve identified— I’ve walked— so we have a Department of Revenue with 100 employees. Now the Department of Audit has 7 people looking at where the checks went, right? But 100 people looking for revenue.
I’ve said, “Hey, these buildings are owned by the Japanese or East Coast equity firms. They’re not paying any property tax.” They’re generating millions of dollars in revenue. There’s a building called Raven Crest Apartments. It was $21 million to build in Casper, 7 acres, 100 units, not paying a penny in property tax. Okay.
But that’s one of the things I’m up against running for governor. I’m going up against an old boys club. I thought it was very simple. I’m showing you where there’s revenue that hasn’t been collected. These people aren’t voters in Wyoming. It seemed cut and dry to me. “Hey, let’s charge them property tax.”
TUCKER CARLSON: (00:20:04 – 00:20:05) You pay property taxes?
REBECCA BEXTEL: (00:20:05 – 00:20:05) I do.
TUCKER CARLSON: (00:20:06 – 00:20:09) Oh, would it be better for you to be a private equity firm in New York?
REBECCA BEXTEL: (00:20:09 – 00:20:10) Yes.
TUCKER CARLSON: (00:20:10 – 00:20:14) Because then you wouldn’t have to pay income taxes because you could take your income and pretend it was interest.
REBECCA BEXTEL: (00:20:14 – 00:20:14) That’s right.
TUCKER CARLSON: (00:20:14 – 00:20:17) Through the carried interest loophole and just pay half the tax.
REBECCA BEXTEL: (00:20:18 – 00:20:29) That’s right. So if your wife died and you got cancer, you’d have to pay. But the Japanese aren’t paying. It doesn’t make any sense. And so when I’m elected governor, those are the things I’m going up against.
TUCKER CARLSON: (00:20:29 – 00:20:33) So the Republican, the fiscally conservative small government Republican, is he worried about this?
REBECCA BEXTEL: (00:20:35 – 00:20:44) I don’t know. There are so many problems in Wyoming that I don’t even know where to begin. But I will say this, I’m showing up with a baseball bat and I’m going to be swinging for the people of Wyoming.
Running for Wyoming GOP Chair and the Constitution Party
TUCKER CARLSON: (00:20:46 – 00:20:48) I think I believe you. Have you run for office before?
REBECCA BEXTEL: (00:20:49 – 00:21:43) I ran to be the chair of the Republican Party 2 years ago. They picked off 6 people at the end. So my siblings were in the room and someone walked up and said, “What is happening to your sister right now is so corrupt.” But they were setting, they were setting this up to take me out, take out the conservatives, take out the grassroots.
If you don’t mind me saying so, I was just endorsed. So I used to be the revenue chair for the Wyoming Republican Party. And a guy named Frank Eathorne ran the party for 8 years. He literally worked tirelessly to get us back to the grassroots. He just came out and endorsed me as the Constitution Party because the person running as a Republican is a Democrat.
So that’s how bad it is. So we’ve got a Democrat running as a Republican. So now we have a Republican running as the Constitution Party. But the one thing I know is the Republican Party is not doing anything for the people of Wyoming. We have to put the person over the political party.
Data Centers and Flock Cameras
TUCKER CARLSON: (00:21:44 – 00:21:55) So that’s a big claim. So I’m going to test it. Do you mind if I just test it really quick? Okay. So you’re saying that the Republican Party, which is the dominant— it’s a one-party state, basically. And it’s run by the Republican Party and has been forever, I think.
REBECCA BEXTEL: (00:21:55 – 00:21:56) Yeah, I think so.
TUCKER CARLSON: (00:21:56 – 00:22:07) Since the Earth cooled, certainly since the glaciers receded. Okay, it’s just been a Republican state. The one thing that everybody in Wyoming hates, because everyone in the world hates, are data centers. Nobody’s for data centers.
REBECCA BEXTEL: (00:22:07 – 00:22:08) That’s right.
TUCKER CARLSON: (00:22:08 – 00:22:14) Unless you’re the guy from Shark Tank who’s going to get rich on them, you’re not for data centers, right? So it’s a really simple question: where’s your opponent on data centers?
REBECCA BEXTEL: (00:22:14 – 00:22:29) Well, the owner of the data center company in Wyoming goes after me on Facebook all the time. My opponent is for whatever he can do to get paid off. I hate to say that, but he’s not necessarily for or against anything. He’s for whatever’s going to get him elected. Does that make sense?
TUCKER CARLSON: (00:22:29 – 00:22:38) He said, I’m not— because the last thing Wyoming needs is data center. You don’t have enough water already. That’s right, that’s right. So, but why would you— who wants data centers?
REBECCA BEXTEL: (00:22:39 – 00:22:41) My opponent. He says they’re already here.
TUCKER CARLSON: (00:22:42 – 00:22:43) Oh, they’re already here,
REBECCA BEXTEL: (00:22:43 – 00:22:43) right?
TUCKER CARLSON: (00:22:44 – 00:22:52) Oh, okay. So that’s the new rule? If something’s already here, that’s like saying we’ve got a lot of carjackings, but we already have them, so don’t worry.
REBECCA BEXTEL: (00:22:53 – 00:23:00) Well, we had a Flock camera come down in my neighborhood in Jackson, and the cops came and said, “Hey, do you know anything about this?” And I said, “I don’t, but I wish I did.”
TUCKER CARLSON: (00:23:01 – 00:23:02) I wish I had come down.
REBECCA BEXTEL: (00:23:02 – 00:23:21) Yeah, they— somebody took one down, and they said, “Do you know who took this down?” And I said, “I don’t, but I wish I had.” Yeah, it should have been me. When I’m governor, on day one, I’m signing an executive order against warrantless mass surveillance in the form of Flock cameras. They tell us now that they’re reading your license plate. Next they’ll be reading our faces.
TUCKER CARLSON: (00:23:21 – 00:23:30) Well, I think they already are reading our faces. But can I ask, why would— I know the neighborhood that you live in in Jackson. I don’t think there’s a lot of violent crime in your neighborhood, roughly about zero. Okay.
REBECCA BEXTEL: (00:23:30 – 00:23:31) Yes.
TUCKER CARLSON: (00:23:31 – 00:23:34) I’ve never been a violent crime in your neighborhood. So why would you have a Flock camera in your neighborhood?
REBECCA BEXTEL: (00:23:34 – 00:23:35) That’s what the deep state wants.
TUCKER CARLSON: (00:23:35 – 00:23:38) No, but for real, what, did you vote for a Flock camera?
REBECCA BEXTEL: (00:23:38 – 00:23:42) No. And they’re going to be gone when I’m governor. But,
TUCKER CARLSON: (00:23:42 – 00:23:43) what’s your opponent say about that?
REBECCA BEXTEL: (00:23:43 – 00:23:49) He doesn’t say anything. I don’t think that he did the polling on what public wants on Flock cameras, so he won’t be able to.
Governor Gordon’s Private Chef
TUCKER CARLSON: (00:23:49 – 00:23:53) So the Republican Party of Wyoming is not leading the charge against data centers or Flock cameras?
REBECCA BEXTEL: (00:23:53 – 00:24:28) Correct. It’s completely worthless. The Republican Party in Wyoming is worthless. Now, there’s a lot of good people within the Republican Party, and they are opening their eyes to what’s going on. If I had not run as a third-party candidate, my opponent would just be sailing into the governor’s office again. He was just endorsed by the current governor.
And let me tell you about him. People around Wyoming struggling to put food on the table. Okay. People really are struggling. And the governor of Wyoming hired a private chef to prepare all the meals at the governor’s mansion. I promise you, Wyoming, you will pay
TUCKER CARLSON: (00:24:28 – 00:24:28) for that.
REBECCA BEXTEL: (00:24:29 – 00:24:36) No, this tax dollars. I promise you, Wyoming, you’re not going to be paying someone to cook my meals when I’m governor. If I’m short on time, I’ll pick up dinner at the gas station.
TUCKER CARLSON: (00:24:37 – 00:24:40) Well, 100%. And you’ve got great gas station food there. I will say you do.
REBECCA BEXTEL: (00:24:41 – 00:24:42) Yes, but some beef jerky.
TUCKER CARLSON: (00:24:42 – 00:24:47) Yeah, excellent beef jerky. But can I ask, how did the governor get away with that?
REBECCA BEXTEL: (00:24:49 – 00:24:53) It’s amazing what these politicians in Wyoming do.
TUCKER CARLSON: (00:24:53 – 00:24:53) Who is the governor?
REBECCA BEXTEL: (00:24:54 – 00:25:55) Governor Gordon. He’s a Democrat. Can you believe that? He’s a Democrat. So I’m running because I care about Wyoming. When I win this election, this will be the first time we’ve ever had a governor that actually fights for the people. Wyoming, my intentions could not be more sincere. I am fighting for us. I’m fighting to save us from becoming Colorado.
My opponent voted 8 times in 6 years to expand Wyoming Medicaid to 55,000 able-bodied adults that don’t even have children. He voted for taxpayer-funded benefits for illegal aliens. He loves a green energy scam, wind farms, solar farms.
When I was mopping the floor with him the other night at a PBS debate where I debate the moderator and my opponent, Someone asked him about wind energy. He said, well, there will be less when he’s governor. Well, that’s not what his 14-year voting record shows. This guy’s a career politician that has enriched himself and his buddies through policies in Cheyenne. And when I’m governor, that’s all going to end.
Windmills, Solar Farms and the Wyoming Business Council
TUCKER CARLSON: (00:25:55 – 00:26:01) You have more energy per capita in Wyoming than any state in the union, as a per population.
REBECCA BEXTEL: (00:26:01 – 00:26:01) Right.
TUCKER CARLSON: (00:26:02 – 00:26:05) So, what? Why windmills?
REBECCA BEXTEL: (00:26:06 – 00:26:43) He loves windmills and solar farms. Yeah, he loves the scams. We have something called the Wyoming Business Council. And I’ll just explain that to you. That’s where Wyoming gives some unelected bureaucrats our money to pass out in the form of economic development. Now, since 1998, we’ve given them $1.5 billion of our money to pass out to us for economic development.
This is where the government picks the winners and losers, and Wyoming has done increasingly worse after we’ve given $1.5 billion to economic development. We have the worst GDP of all 50 states. We can’t afford 4 more years of Eric Barlow and his policies.
TUCKER CARLSON: (00:26:44 – 00:26:46) So who supports him other than the Democrats?
REBECCA BEXTEL: (00:26:47 – 00:26:55) The Democrats— it’s the conservatives split the vote, and so the Democrats literally helped him get in there. And then we have to remember, Tucker, Republicans like free stuff too.
TUCKER CARLSON: (00:26:56 – 00:26:57) Oh, especially.
REBECCA BEXTEL: (00:26:58 – 00:27:06) And so we’ve got a lot of that going on in Wyoming. We have entire politicians who did nothing but enrich themselves while in office, and I’m there to bust that job.
Do Republican Leaders Respect Their Own Voters?
TUCKER CARLSON: (00:27:07 – 00:27:12) What do you think? So Wyoming is a state of small towns, a lot of small towns still in Wyoming.
REBECCA BEXTEL: (00:27:13 – 00:27:13) Yes.
TUCKER CARLSON: (00:27:13 – 00:27:26) And relatively few cities. What do you think the Republican leadership, state leadership, thinks of its own voters? Just the conservative who lives outside Cody, what do you think they think of them?
REBECCA BEXTEL: (00:27:26 – 00:27:46) I don’t think they think very much of them. They don’t— they have not lifted a finger to help us get rid of Eric Barlow. So that’s the thing, that Eric Barlow has an R by his name, but by any stretch of the word, he’s a Democrat. So you would think that the Republican Party would be coming out in full force. “Hey, wait a minute, this guy’s a Democrat.” Instead, they’re just silent.
TUCKER CARLSON: (00:27:48 – 00:27:49) Did he get the Trump endorsement?
REBECCA BEXTEL: (00:27:49 – 00:28:21) The Trump endorsement candidate lost in the primary. So isn’t that amazing? So we have a candidate who— a lot of our politicians have called Eric Barlow pure evil. Literally from the top, they’ve said, “This guy is pure evil.” Well, now that he won the Republican primary, we’re supposed to get behind him now? You just told us he was pure evil, so I thought we’d have to get rid of him.
That’s why I’m running the Constitution Party. I could see this coming from a mile away. This is our chance to save Wyoming. We’re going to say enough is enough. We’re not having any more Republicans in office that just simply have an R by
TUCKER CARLSON: (00:28:21 – 00:28:28) their name. I mean, one of the reasons I was so interested in talking to you, other than I think you come from a beautiful place that is being mismanaged, obviously—
REBECCA BEXTEL: (00:28:28 – 00:28:29) obviously
TUCKER CARLSON: (00:28:29 – 00:28:37) I didn’t realize you were giving free rent to private equity firms in Japan, but that’s pretty crazy, putting tampons in the men’s room, but I knew it was not great.
REBECCA BEXTEL: (00:28:37 – 00:28:38) Right.
TUCKER CARLSON: (00:28:38 – 00:28:52) But I just think that this is happening across the country where you have Democrats who do pretty much what they say they’re going to do. They represent their constituencies pretty faithfully. And you have Republicans who clearly hate their own voters.
REBECCA BEXTEL: (00:28:52 – 00:28:52) Right.
TUCKER CARLSON: (00:28:53 – 00:29:00) Make no effort to represent their own voters, have contempt for them and lie to them, and then do the opposite once they get elected.
REBECCA BEXTEL: (00:29:00 – 00:29:01) That’s right.
TUCKER CARLSON: (00:29:02 – 00:29:09) And there’s no option. Who— okay, who do you vote for? You’re not going to vote for AOC. There’s no others. Literally no options. You vote for Eric Barlow or whomever,
REBECCA BEXTEL: (00:29:09 – 00:29:10) right?
TUCKER CARLSON: (00:29:10 – 00:29:10) Lindsey Graham,
REBECCA BEXTEL: (00:29:10 – 00:29:20) right? You have your choice previously between a Democrat or Republican, but the Republican is a Democrat. And that’s why I came along. And that’s why I’m running on the Constitution Party.
Why Rebecca Bextel Decided to Run
TUCKER CARLSON: (00:29:20 – 00:29:22) Has anyone ever succeeded doing this?
REBECCA BEXTEL: (00:29:22 – 00:29:24) No, not yet.
TUCKER CARLSON: (00:29:24 – 00:29:29) No, anywhere. I don’t think anyone’s ever succeeded. It doing this?
REBECCA BEXTEL: (00:29:29 – 00:29:31) Yeah, put me in, coach. I’m ready.
TUCKER CARLSON: (00:29:31 – 00:29:35) Wow. What— I mean, why did you want to do this?
REBECCA BEXTEL: (00:29:35 – 00:29:40) I didn’t. I couldn’t find anybody willing to do it. My whole plan was to find somebody that was willing to do this.
TUCKER CARLSON: (00:29:41 – 00:29:42) Yeah, that’s the best plan.
REBECCA BEXTEL: (00:29:42 – 00:29:51) Yeah, you do it. 5 days before you couldn’t switch your party affiliation, I— there was no one there willing to do it, so I went and did this myself.
TUCKER CARLSON: (00:29:52 – 00:29:53) What does your family say?
REBECCA BEXTEL: (00:29:54 – 00:30:08) My husband loves me a lot. I have 4 girls. Look, I’m doing this for 4 years and then I’m going home. I’m not going to turn into a lobbyist. I’m not rolling this into the next election. I’m doing this for 4 years and it will be a sacrifice. And I’m doing this to save our state.
Data Center Bonds, Vaccines and the Moon Landing
TUCKER CARLSON: (00:30:08 – 00:30:12) You’ve got your own business. You’re building data centers?
REBECCA BEXTEL: (00:30:12 – 00:30:43) Nope. When I’m governor, I’m going to require data centers to put up a bond because when the technology is obsolete and the companies file for bankruptcy, we’re not going to be left holding the bag in Wyoming. I tell you what else is going to stop— all of these secret meetings and NDAs where your county commissioners are selling you out. The first time you know a data center’s coming to town is because the ground’s getting shoveled in.
That’s going to end when I’m governor. Now, I’m not going to stop— I’m not going to do a moratorium to stop all data centers, but these things are going to start working for the people of Wyoming, and that’s— we don’t have that.
TUCKER CARLSON: (00:30:43 – 00:30:47) So, I mean, it does seem like every data center is built with public tax dollars.
REBECCA BEXTEL: (00:30:49 – 00:31:26) They seem to always worm their way into freebies or no sales tax. So the small guy, the small business owner, to pay sales tax on everything he purchases, but somehow these data centers, it never papers correctly. They never employ the amount of people that they were told.
This is what I tell people on the campaign trail. The same people that told us to get vaccinated are also telling us that the world’s overpopulated. Okay, so at some point, when are we going to realize that the two are connected? You can’t convince me that a data center’s safe, right? Those same folks are now telling us that the data center’s in your best interest. I don’t buy it. Are you going to tell me we landed on the moon next?
TUCKER CARLSON: (00:31:27 – 00:31:33) I mean, the same people that told you the vax is safe are the same ones saying the world’s overpopulated. No, that is,
REBECCA BEXTEL: (00:31:33 – 00:31:54) I’ve never vaccinated to keep safe. And also, we landed on the moon. If you’ve ever looked at that, I mean, they’ve got an umbrella handle. It’s like, as the gear shift for the lunar module. It’s like, I’m just not falling for it, you know what I mean? You can’t trick me The number one thing that qualifies me to be governor is I can spot bullshit from a mile away.
Illegal Chickens, Fruit Trees and Honeybees in Jackson
TUCKER CARLSON: (00:31:57 – 00:32:01) I can tell you have 4 kids. It’s so great. Good for you. How many dogs do you have?
REBECCA BEXTEL: (00:32:01 – 00:32:02) I only have one.
TUCKER CARLSON: (00:32:03 – 00:32:03) Oh,
REBECCA BEXTEL: (00:32:03 – 00:32:12) but she is so precious. Even the dog’s a girl. So we got the governor’s mansion is going to turn into a henhouse with my 4 girls and the dog and everything.
TUCKER CARLSON: (00:32:12 – 00:32:13) Oh, that is so good.
REBECCA BEXTEL: (00:32:13 – 00:32:15) I have 15 illegal chickens in my backyard.
TUCKER CARLSON: (00:32:15 – 00:32:16) Do you really?
REBECCA BEXTEL: (00:32:16 – 00:32:21) The town of Jackson says you can’t. We got to worry about the environment, so you can’t have chickens.
TUCKER CARLSON: (00:32:21 – 00:32:22) Chickens are against the environment?
REBECCA BEXTEL: (00:32:22 – 00:32:25) I said, “Watch me.” Yeah, can’t have fruit trees either now.
TUCKER CARLSON: (00:32:25 – 00:32:27) Why? Oh, water consumption?
REBECCA BEXTEL: (00:32:28 – 00:32:29) No, they said it was for the environment.
TUCKER CARLSON: (00:32:30 – 00:32:33) So we’re opposing nature for the sake of the environment?
REBECCA BEXTEL: (00:32:33 – 00:32:35) That’s what they tell you.
TUCKER CARLSON: (00:32:35 – 00:32:36) You gotta cut all the trees down because the environment—
REBECCA BEXTEL: (00:32:36 – 00:32:44) I went and planted more as soon as they came out with that. I raced to the store to grab the last of the apple and cherry trees and I put them in my backyard.
TUCKER CARLSON: (00:32:44 – 00:32:47) You can’t plant correct trees because of the environment?
REBECCA BEXTEL: (00:32:47 – 00:32:51) That’s what they tell us. Yes, we have to worry about the animals in the environment. So we
TUCKER CARLSON: (00:32:51 – 00:32:53) can’t— anybody— but you can’t have trees.
REBECCA BEXTEL: (00:32:54 – 00:33:01) You can’t have trees or animals. I think they’re honestly trying to starve us out, Tucker. I’m just guessing here, but I think that’s—
TUCKER CARLSON: (00:33:01 – 00:33:02) are you making this up or is this real?
REBECCA BEXTEL: (00:33:02 – 00:33:08) I’m dead serious. The town of Jackson said no honeybees, no chickens, and then they said no fruit trees.
TUCKER CARLSON: (00:33:08 – 00:33:11) Yeah, so no auxiliary food sources.
REBECCA BEXTEL: (00:33:11 – 00:33:12) Let me tell you what— let me
TUCKER CARLSON: (00:33:12 – 00:33:14) tell you what kind of extra food—
REBECCA BEXTEL: (00:33:14 – 00:33:15) let me tell you what the town—
TUCKER CARLSON: (00:33:15 – 00:33:18) but trust us. There’s nothing sinister here. You just can’t— you—
REBECCA BEXTEL: (00:33:19 – 00:33:26) Jackson Hole is so messed up that they take 1 minute of silence at every town meeting to recognize we’re on stolen land.
TUCKER CARLSON: (00:33:26 – 00:33:35) Can they name the names of the tribe they stole it from? Do they know the names of people who stole? They don’t know anything. They’re all from New Jersey, by the way. I don’t know anything about the state. It’s hilarious.
REBECCA BEXTEL: (00:33:36 – 00:33:36) All fake.
TUCKER CARLSON: (00:33:37 – 00:33:48) It’s all rich kids from New Jersey. Sorry, sorry, my bigotry is coming out here. But that’s true, as you I know, but the fact they banned fruit trees, honeybees, and chickens in the name of nature—
REBECCA BEXTEL: (00:33:48 – 00:33:48) yes,
TUCKER CARLSON: (00:33:49 – 00:33:50) it’s pretty remarkable.
REBECCA BEXTEL: (00:33:50 – 00:33:51) It is.
TUCKER CARLSON: (00:33:52 – 00:33:57) They’re going to be, I don’t know, probably blowing up the Tetons to put in data centers in the name of the environment at some point.
“I’m Fighting for Us”
REBECCA BEXTEL: (00:33:58 – 00:34:00) Well, good for me, I’m not used to following the rules,
TUCKER CARLSON: (00:34:00 – 00:34:09) man. Well, Beck, I’m rooting for you strongly. I’m not a Teton County voter. I probably vote there anyway, right? Can you do that? They require voter ID?
REBECCA BEXTEL: (00:34:09 – 00:34:24) They are supposed to be requiring ID. I don’t know what happens in Teton County, but Okay, please Wyoming, give me a chance. Put me in, coach. I’m ready for this. I’m going down there. I’m going to break up that old boys club. I promise you, Wyoming, I’m fighting for us.
TUCKER CARLSON: (00:34:25 – 00:34:27) I believe you. Thanks for doing this. I appreciate it.
REBECCA BEXTEL: (00:34:28 – 00:34:28) Thank you.
