Welcome to Call Her Daddy

ALEX COOPER: (00:00:03 – 00:00:13) Jennifer Lawrence, welcome to Call Her Daddy.

JENNIFER LAWRENCE: (00:00:13 – 00:00:15) Thank you so much for having me.

ALEX COOPER: (00:00:15 – 00:00:16) I’m so happy you’re here.

JENNIFER LAWRENCE: (00:00:16 – 00:00:17) Thank you. I’m very happy to be here.

ALEX COOPER: (00:00:18 – 00:00:24) I have been really looking forward to this conversation. Obviously, you are one of the biggest movie stars.

JENNIFER LAWRENCE: (00:00:24 – 00:00:25) Of course. Of course. Go on.

ALEX COOPER: (00:00:25 – 00:00:27) Just so well established.

JENNIFER LAWRENCE: (00:00:27 – 00:00:27) Yes.

ALEX COOPER: (00:00:27 – 00:00:27) Yes.

JENNIFER LAWRENCE: (00:00:27 – 00:00:28) Yes.

ALEX COOPER: (00:00:28 – 00:00:41) And then I feel like you really became known for just not being afraid to say what you’re thinking. Yes. I do feel like you’re the type of person when people meet you, they kind of already feel like they know you and you’re their best friend.

JENNIFER LAWRENCE: (00:00:42 – 00:00:42) Yes.

Oversharing, Fans and the J-Law Nickname

ALEX COOPER: (00:00:43 – 00:00:46) Do you feel like people overshare when they meet you?

JENNIFER LAWRENCE: (00:00:46 – 00:00:48) No. Nobody ever overshares more than me.

ALEX COOPER: (00:00:48 – 00:00:53) Me 2 seconds ago before the camera started rolling, be like, “All right, so the cramps in my crotch, what am I doing?”

JENNIFER LAWRENCE: (00:00:53 – 00:00:55) Again, I brought that up.

ALEX COOPER: (00:00:55 – 00:00:56) Okay, fair, fair.

JENNIFER LAWRENCE: (00:00:56 – 00:00:57) That was for me.

ALEX COOPER: (00:00:57 – 00:00:57) Okay.

JENNIFER LAWRENCE: (00:00:57 – 00:00:57) Yeah.

ALEX COOPER: (00:00:57 – 00:00:59) But you don’t think randoms overshare with you too much?

JENNIFER LAWRENCE: (00:01:00 – 00:01:04) No, and I don’t think I would notice. I’m just so confused about boundaries that—

ALEX COOPER: (00:01:05 – 00:01:05) Okay, perfect.

JENNIFER LAWRENCE: (00:01:05 – 00:01:07) Yeah, I don’t think it would even cross my mind.

ALEX COOPER: (00:01:07 – 00:01:09) That’ll make for good podcasting today, hopefully.

JENNIFER LAWRENCE: (00:01:09 – 00:01:09) It will.

ALEX COOPER: (00:01:10 – 00:01:20) Do you feel like you’ve ever had a really weird interaction with maybe a fan in the wild who thinks, “Oh, you’re my girl, let me just hang with you for a second,” or do they have boundaries?

JENNIFER LAWRENCE: (00:01:21 – 00:01:40) Nobody in New York wants to be the dork that’s like, “Oh my God, let me hitch a ride.” So everybody’s just like— I was coming out of a movie and was stuck on a very slow escalator in front of a girl that was asking to take a picture with me.

But I just got a peel. I actually got a peel too close to this. I don’t know if you can see the bumps.

ALEX COOPER: (00:01:40 – 00:01:40) You look gorgeous.

JENNIFER LAWRENCE: (00:01:40 – 00:01:41) Thank you.

ALEX COOPER: (00:01:41 – 00:01:41) You look gorgeous.

JENNIFER LAWRENCE: (00:01:41 – 00:01:49) Thank you. And so that was just uncomfortable because I was like, “No.” And then we were just stuck together.

ALEX COOPER: (00:01:50 – 00:01:52) And then you started oversharing. You’re like, “Because of the peel.”

JENNIFER LAWRENCE: (00:01:52 – 00:01:55) Yeah. Yeah. I got a peel on my pussy.

ALEX COOPER: (00:01:57 – 00:02:01) He’s like, “I literally hate you and I’m not a fan anymore and I never asked you for that information.”

JENNIFER LAWRENCE: (00:02:01 – 00:02:03) Yeah, yeah, I can’t believe I ever—

ALEX COOPER: (00:02:03 – 00:02:05) Do people usually call you Jen or J-Law?

JENNIFER LAWRENCE: (00:02:05 – 00:02:15) Imagine if I had people in my life that called me J-Law. My best friends all call me J-Law. And if somebody accidentally calls me Jen, I’m like, “What? Hold on.”

ALEX COOPER: (00:02:15 – 00:02:16) It’s J-Law to you.

ALEX COOPER: (00:02:17 – 00:02:18) I should refer to you as Jen though, right?

JENNIFER LAWRENCE: (00:02:18 – 00:02:30) Yes. Jennifer. Yeah. Miss Jennifer. Dr. Lawrence. Yes, you can refer to me as Jen. Yeah, I like the J-Law thing. It’s cool. I hope J.Lo is not mad.

ALEX COOPER: (00:02:31 – 00:02:35) No. Yeah. Have you ever been in a room with her and it’s been, “Oh, we’re both tense”? Yeah,

JENNIFER LAWRENCE: (00:02:36 – 00:02:37) sure. Why not? Yes.

ALEX COOPER: (00:02:37 – 00:02:38) Let’s stir the room.

JENNIFER LAWRENCE: (00:02:38 – 00:02:43) And we got in a huge fight and I took her out.

ALEX COOPER: (00:02:43 – 00:02:50) No, I could see that because I was like, I’m saying J-Law. And then my husband earlier was like, “J.Lo?” And I’m like, “J-Law.”

JENNIFER LAWRENCE: (00:02:50 – 00:02:50) Yeah.

ALEX COOPER: (00:02:50 – 00:02:52) It’s a good person to get mixed up with.

JENNIFER LAWRENCE: (00:02:53 – 00:02:53) Totally.

ALEX COOPER: (00:02:53 – 00:02:53) Yeah.

JENNIFER LAWRENCE: (00:02:54 – 00:02:56) Yeah, I know she might be, but I’m not.

Launching Her Haircare Brand Mes°

ALEX COOPER: (00:02:56 – 00:02:58) Your hair looks gorgeous today.

JENNIFER LAWRENCE: (00:02:58 – 00:02:58) Thank you.

ALEX COOPER: (00:02:59 – 00:03:03) And I just wanted to congratulate you on that because you are adding a new business to your resume.

JENNIFER LAWRENCE: (00:03:03 – 00:03:04) I am.

ALEX COOPER: (00:03:04 – 00:03:09) You are coming out with a new haircare brand called Mes°. Where did the name come from?

JENNIFER LAWRENCE: (00:03:09 – 00:03:41) It was— it was the first name that I ever kind of came to the table with and was just like, “I want to have a hair company called Mes°.” It feels true for me.
