Opening Remarks

[HU HONG LU, Deputy Secretary General]: Ladies and gentlemen, friends from the media, good afternoon. The press conference of the third session of the fourteenth CPPCC National Committee now begins. On behalf of the session secretariat, I would like to extend a warm welcome to all the journalists participating in today’s press conference, both at home and overseas. The spokesperson for today’s press conference is Deputy Secretary General of the session, Mr. Liu Jieyi.

I am Deputy Secretary General for the CPPCC National Committee and Deputy Secretary General of the session, Hu Hong Lu. I will host today’s press conference. Sitting at the left is DDG of the Information Bureau of the General Office of the CPPCC National Committee, Madam Zhou Hae Yan. She will help me to take turns to invite questions from the floor. The press conference today will last about seventy minutes.

Now let’s give the floor to Mr. Liu Jieyi, who will first brief us on the overall arrangement of the session and then take questions on this session and the work of the CPPCC. Mr. Liu Jieyi, the floor is yours.

[LIU JIEYI, Deputy Secretary General]: Ladies and gentlemen, friends from the media, good afternoon. Welcome to all media friends covering the third session of the fourteenth CPPCC National Committee. I’m very pleased to meet you all. I learned that close to three thousand Chinese and international journalists have signed up to cover the session. Thank you for your interest in the session and the importance you attach to it.
